About

The Gordonton Art & Design Trail began in 2021 when local practising artist Mindy Singh of Bola Ceramics recognised the remarkable creative talent that existed within the Gordonton community. Through meeting and connecting with other artists working in the area, she realised there was an opportunity to bring these makers together and share their work more widely with the public.

What started as a small collaboration quickly took shape when Mindy and eight fellow local artists decided to open their studios and creative spaces to visitors. This first trail invited the public to explore the rural landscape of Gordonton while discovering the diverse work being created there — from ceramics and painting to design, craft, and other contemporary art practices. The response from the community was enthusiastic, and the event quickly established itself as a unique opportunity for people to meet artists, see where their work is made, and experience art in an authentic studio setting.

Since that first year, the trail has continued to grow. The artists involved have expanded the event by inviting creatives from surrounding areas to join them, enriching the range of work on display and strengthening the connections between artists across the wider region.

Now entering its sixth year in 2026, the Gordonton Art & Design Trail has become a much-anticipated annual event that celebrates creativity, community, and the vibrant artistic culture of the area. Visitors are invited to follow the trail, explore studios and exhibition spaces, and experience the passion and craftsmanship of the artists who make this creative community so special.
